ATRACK (“Absolvent:innen-Tracking”, graduate tracking) is a register-based full survey of all graduates and dropouts from Austrian higher education institutions which was developed in partnership with the public universities, headed by the University of Vienna. The body of data enables the career starts and career paths of all graduates and dropouts to be evaluated statistically.

ATRACK can be used to evaluate the labour market status, gross salary of employees or the economic sector (ÖNACE) of the workplace according to demographic (e.g. gender, age) or study-related characteristics (e.g. type of study, ISCED 2013 fields of education and training) on certain reference dates before or after the students graduated/dropped out. The sources of data are the base registers of the Register-based Census and the Register-based Labour Market Statistics.

S: STATISTICS AUSTRIA, Graduate Tracking. Compiled on 13 April 2023. For data privacy protection reasons, the statistical disclosure control method of "Record Swapping" has been used on a part of the data. Therefore, no reliable assertions can be made for analyses based on very small cell values. The population consists of graduates from higher education institutions in the academic years 2008/09 to 2018/19 who were under 35 years of age at the time of graduation (exception: there is no age limit for PhD graduates). Individuals who have already obtained a degree of equal or higher value or who attended further education in the academic year following the graduation are excluded from the analyses. – To determine the cutoff date, 36 months are added to the graduation date. The formation of labour market status is dominated by employment before unemployment and further periods of education.
