Registered Partnerships

Since 01/01/2010 a law on registered partnerships (Eingetragene Partnerschaft-Gesetz – EPG) has offered the possibility for same-sex couples to establish a registered partnership with mutual rights and duties. The law was restricted to same-sex couples. Since 1 January 2019, registered partnerships are also recognized for mixed-sex couples.

Since that date it has been possible, as well, to dissolve same-sex and mixed-sex coupled registered partnerships by court.
