The number of local units in Austria with registered lorries with a load capacity of two tonnes or more or road tractors on December 31 2020 decreased in the field of transport for hire or reward by 1.1% to 3 292 and in the sector of transport on own account decreased by 0.5% to 12 241 compared with the reference date of the previous year. The number of those local units where busses were registered accounted 1 118 at the end of the year 2020 (-20 or -1.8% in comparison to the last day of the preceding year).

In the field of transport for hire or reward the stock of lorries (load capacity of 2 tonnes or more) decreased by 1.9% to 16 818 and the stock of road tractors decreased by 0.5% to 12 853. The number of trailers decreased by 0.7% to 30 630. The stock of lorries with a load capacity of at least 2 tonnes, used in transport on own account, increased by 0.8% to 34 442, the count for the road tractors rose by 1.8% to 6 469. The trailers showed a rise of 2.6% to 31 304. There were 10 003 buses registered at the last day of the year 2020 (-83 or -0.8% compared to the value of the preceding year).

Concerning the total load capacity there was a decrease in the sector of transport for hire or reward by 2.1% to 198 698 tonnes and an increase by 2.8% to 343 747 tonnes registered referring to the transport on own account. The total load capacity for trailers decreased in the sector of transport for hire or reward by 0.2% to 763 263 tonnes and the sector of transport on own account rose by 2.1% to 606 589 tonnes.
