Turnover of service and trade enterprises decreased in the first three quarters of 2020

Vienna, 2020-12-03 – In the first three quarters of 2020, turnover of Austrian service enterprises decreased by 14.3% in nominal terms compared to the same period of the previous year, as Statistics Austria reports. Turnover in trade decreased by 6.0% in nominal terms. Taking inflation into account, sales in trade sunk by 5.3% compared to the period January to September 2019.

The main reason for this decline is the lockdown of a large part of the enterprises as part of the measures to contain the corona pandemic.
