Turnover in Austrian retail trade increased by 0.4% in the first nine months of 2020

Vienna, 2020-11-05 – In the period January to September 2020, the turnover of Austrian retail trade (excluding motor vehicle retailing, including gas stations) increased by 0.4% in nominal terms and decreased by 0.2% in real terms compared to the same period of the previous year, as Statistics Austria reports on the basis of preliminary results. With 227 shopping days, the first nine months of 2020 had the same number of sales days as the corresponding period of the previous year. The actual number of of shopping days is depending on the branch and the shutdown of a large part of the shops as part of the measures to contain the corona pandemic.
