Turnover in industry and construction increased by 2.3% from January to October 2019

Vienna, 2020-01-30 – A total of 66 106 enterprises in the entire industry and construction sector (+0.6% compared to the previous year) turned over €251.0 bn (+2.3%) in the reporting period January to October 2019, according to calculations by Statistics Austria. The working-day adjusted turnover for industry and construction increased by 2.1%. These figures coupled with increasing employment (1 008 828 persons, +1.4%).

At establishment level (66 679 establishments, +0.5%), production sold increased by 1.9% (working-day adjusted: +1.7%) in comparison to previous year's level and amounted to €247.6 bn in nominal terms (employing 1 007 937 persons, +1.4%). Industrial production sold increased by 1.0%.

36 315 Austrian construction establishments (+0.9%) achieved a production sold of €42.7 bn in the reporting period January to October 2019. This corresponds to an increase of 6.6% in nominal terms (working-day adjusted: +6.4%) compared to the previous year.

At the end of October 2019, Austrian construction companies (not including construction auxiliary trades) had orders booked totalling about €16.0 bn (-3.9% year-over-year).
