– The industrial producer price index,
IPPI 2015, in 2020 was on average 1.6% below the level of the previous
year, as Statistics Austria reports. In 2019, the annual average rate
was +0.1%, and it was +2.4% in 2018. The decrease of the industrial
producer price index in 2020 (-1.6%) was mainly due to falling prices
in the energy sector (-5,9%) and for intermediate goods (-1.8%). Prices
rose by 1.1% for consumer goods and by 0.8% for capital goods.
In December 2020, the
industrial producer price index reached 101.4 points, representing a
price decrease of 1.0% compared to December 2019. In November and October 2020,
the annual rates of change had been -1.4% and -1.5%. In December 2020,
the price decline for industrial products slowed down further. Between
November and December 2020, the industrial producer price index went
up by 0.4%.
