Number of deaths decreases again; still 13% over five-year average

Vienna, 2021-02-11 – According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, 1 972 people died in Austria in calendar week 4 (from 25 to 31 January 2021). This is 13% more than the five-year average (2016–2020) for the same calendar week. While the number of deaths has slightly increased between calendar weeks 2 and 3 (from 1 954 to 2 011 people), the number decreased in calendar week 4.
